Regulations
The new law on sailing requires pleasure boats (usually known as large yachts) used for hire to tourists to be registered in the International Register and has implicitly extended the tax relief previously provided only for commercial ships in the strictest sense of the term to such craft.
Conditions:
- Hull length over 24 metres
- Gross tonnage no more than 1000 tons
- Use for international and coastal navigation exclusively for the purposes of hire to tourists
- Qualification to transport no more than 12 passengers, excluding crew
- Possession of a class certificate issued by one of the authorised issuing bodies
- Compliance with technical and running standards as foreseen in the new safety regulations containing technical and running standards*
* The safety regulations in question have not yet been issued. This issue affects any coming into force of tax relief, which is not yet applicable to date. |
